What's on in the Autumn...
During the mild autumn days of late September and October, Mallorca gradually becomes quieter...The vibrant mood of high summer fades away along with the scorching temperatures and the Mallorcans return to their villages to begin the traditional tasks of the harvest.
In September you will see the almond groves carpeted with the cloths that gather up the fruit as it is shaken from the tree. Later in the month the grapes are havested and the town of Binissalem celebrates the new vintage with a week of fiestas. Finally the olives are gathered. There may already be snow on the mountains by late November when the villagers of Caimari hold their annual festivities in honor of the olive and the locally produced olive oil.
